Clean Water Global launches mobile purification plant and sets course for international expansion

Clean Water Global (CWG), a leading scale-up in water purification and the circular economy, proudly announces the launch of its mobile purification plant. This innovation enables the company to take a crucial step in the decentralized purification of rinse water from the coating industry, ushering in a new era of sustainability and efficiency.

The need for decentralized purification

The coating industry, including the painting sector, faces a major environmental issue: contaminated rinse water. Legislation prohibits discharging this into the sewer system. This rinse water contains harmful substances such as PFAS, microplastics, heavy metals, and biocides. Traditional treatment methods, such as incineration, are far from environmentally friendly. Since 2021, CWG has offered a solution. With a central purification plant in Genk and a network of 145 collection points in the Netherlands and Belgium where painters can hand in their paint rinse water, thousands of liters are processed properly.

With the introduction of the mobile purification unit, CWG now brings the solution closer to the source. This optimizes logistics and significantly reduces the ecological footprint of transport. It is a gamechanger for the sector, enabling easier and more efficient compliance with increasingly strict environmental regulations.

Innovation as a driving force

The new mobile unit is the result of continuous innovation and ongoing development at CWG. The system integrates numerous new technologies to optimize the quality and efficiency of purification. Thanks to advanced filtration steps, ionization, and other unique processes, the water is completely freed from harmful chemicals, including PFAS. The recovered volumes are reused as process water.

The CWG app further streamlines processes. Users can easily track the status of their collection box, submit pickup requests, and directly download disposal certificates. These certificates are crucial for painters and companies to demonstrate their environmental performance and meet reporting obligations.

Ready for the global market

The development of the mobile purification plant is a key step in CWG’s international growth ambitions. After successfully expanding collection points in the Benelux, the company is now looking toward global expansion. “Several countries have already approached us to apply our solution,” says founder Timmy Bours. The mobile unit makes implementing the CWG model in new regions significantly easier.

A holistic, circular approach

CWG’s mission goes beyond water purification alone. The company strives for a fully circular economy. Remaining paint residues are successfully valorized in pilots into new raw materials for products such as primers and fillers. In addition, CWG collaborates with Fire-Off and Dijkstra Plastics to recycle empty paint buckets into new buckets. This holistic approach to waste management not only reduces pollution but also saves valuable raw materials and lowers the CO2 footprint.

“Incineration and coagulation waste are things of the past. Circular is the future.”

CWG’s approach demonstrates that sustainability and economic efficiency can go hand in hand. By offering a user-friendly and cost-effective solution, the company contributes to a cleaner future and enables the entire sector to reduce its ecological footprint. With the introduction of the mobile purification plant, CWG is ready to roll out its innovative model on an international scale and transform the coating industry.
